Welcome to the Evolution of Martial Arts and the Modern Warrior.
Built on a foundation of self-protection and self-mastery, were tradition meets sport, meets reality.
In 2020, to be an integrated martial artist/modern warrior, one must be able to read the environment, navigate adversity, move and flow through all ranges of conflict, and master the moment by mastering the breath.
What is Fusion Aiki-jitsu?
Fusion Aiki-jitsu is an integration of traditional and modern martial arts, functional movement, yoga, and western psychology. A progressive approach to self-protection and self-preservation, for the purpose of improved quality, and longevity of life.
Translated from Japanese, Aiki-jitsu means “The Art of Intercepting Force, and Blending Energy”. Fusion Aiki-jitsu (aka AJF), is constantly being up-dated and refined, to keep relevant with modern times. AJF strives to navigate conflict peacefully, ethically, responsibly, and without aggression and violence. AJF is a safe, fun, and versatile practice that teaches centering, breathing, critical thinking, threat detection/assessment, mindset, and verbal conflict de-escalation techniques. The physical techniques cover ranges of combat, strategic maneuvering, escapes, striking, throwing, take-downs, pins, chokes, joint locks and escorting techniques, in both standing and ground control. AJF utilizes single and multiple opponent control strategies, as well as armed and unarmed scenario-based training to educate, equip, and prepare each individual for real world theory and application. Private and group classes are for adults and teens 15+.
How Does Fusion Aiki-jitsu Work?
Fusion Aiki-jitsu emphasizes “an early neutralization of an attack”. Of particular importance is the timing of an offensive and/or defensive technique, either to blend or to neutralize an attack’s effectiveness, and to use the force of the attacker’s movement against him/her. Fusion Aiki-jitsu works consistently because it is based on employing simple, applied psychology, and physics, using proper body-mechanics, bio-mechanics, timing, angles, interception of force, and redirection of energy. What sets AJF training apart from others, is the teaching methodology, which uses a building block approach to learning and understanding modern psychology and strategic mindset, with functional, and fluid movement. Students work with “partners” instead of “opponents” to eliminate (or minimize) injury for both participants . This type of intelligent, and refined training will also lower the amount of energy the individual expends to accomplish his/her objectives. This creates an enjoyable experience and fosters an accelerated learning environment. Our secret is in our training method. Each technique must meet the following requirements: easy to learn, be universal, easy to remember, AND easy to execute under pressure. The Bindner Academy believes that you can learn a highly effective self-protection form of martial art in a traditional Japanese training atmosphere without having to engage in aggression, or external competitions.
Fusion Aiki-jitsu Syllabus
AJF hosts an innovative, and carefully designed curriculum with a variety of basic movements and techniques that can be learned with training and practice. Classes are small, challenging, and fun, yet respectful — with no hype or commercialization, and with a focus on SAFETY FIRST. AJF can complement any martial art. In fact, many of our students and instructors are ranked in other styles as well. It is suitable for beginners, intermediate, and advanced students alike. AJF is an effective, non-violent, non-competitive, and non-aggressive martial art style, suitable for children, teens, women, and men.
Fusion Aiki-jitsu Classes run every Monday and Wednesday at 7:30-8:30 pm, and Saturdays at 10-11am.
Fusion Aiki-jitsu TACTICS (Optional Up-grade Program)
Bindner Academy understands that some students have the desire to “pressure test” their knowledge, skills, and abilities. This is exactly why we offer the optional “TACTICS”, up-grade program. Originally designed in 1997, AJTactics was only taught to executive /close protection specialists, police, and law enforcement professionals in Ontario and Quebec, for a “closer to reality check” experience. AJT was an answer for developing leadership and tactical skills during high stress, physical combat. Referred to as “reality-based aliveness training”, practiced in a safe and controlled environment, is the closest we can come to actual level 4 combat, without major injuries.
Tactics \n. sing or pl 1: the science of maneuvering forces in combat 2: the skill of using available means to reach an end.
Fusion Aiki-jitsu TACTICS is the perfect opportunity for those who desire to challenge themselves in a variety of skill building modes:
- Kickboxing (Striking)
- Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (Grappling)
- Aikido (Strategic Maneuvering)
- Multiple Attackers (Science and Application)
- All of the above
The Fusion Aiki-jitsu TACTICS up-grade program runs every Monday and Wednesday at 8:30-9pm, directly following the regular Fusion program.
Students wishing to further their training experience in violent encounters, are encouraged to register for our level 5, “BRAVE” (Battle Ready at Violent Encounters) course. A one day intense training experience, that covers the psychology, physiology, physics, and physical implications of a violent encounter, that has been initiated suddenly and unexpectedly.
